Baked Apple Slices

Apples sliced up and tossed with butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and oats; then baked to gooey perfection. I was really craving something sweet that wouldn't undo my whole week and these hit the spot!

Dressing up the Apples

I took the apples that were laying around in the fridge and just used whatever kind they were. I then cut them up into slices about 1/4 inch thick. I left the skin on to make them more like a deconstructed baked apple rather than a pie filling.

I placed all my apple slices in a mixing bowl and added in the brown sugar and cinnamon.

Mixing the Apples

I gave the apples a really good mix, and then poured them into a 9x9 baking dish. I then took the butter and melted it in the microwave and then poured over top the apples and again gave them a good stir to make sure all the apples were well coated.

Toppings!

I sprinkled some old fashion oats over the top of the butter coated apples and then tossed them in the oven to bake while we ate dinner.

After 20 minutes of cooking, I decided to add some corn starch to the apples and stirred them around a bit to try and thicken up the juices that were coming from the apples to make a nice gooey sauce. I then stuck them back in the oven for 5 more minutes and after they they were all ready to serve!

This stuff was so amazing that it was literally gone within 5 minutes of it coming out of the oven. I could indulge and not worry about it! 10 out of 10 recommend! If you have points to spare or family members who aren't on WW, these would be sooooo good over vanilla ice cream or with whipped cream. I might even try it with some vanilla low calorie ice cream next time around!
